This past month I had the honor of speaking at Beatrice High School. They had their annual athletic department banquet, and I was thrilled to be there. I stuck around afterwards to chat with several faculty and students, and really enjoyed meeting all of them. Several parents stuck around afterward and thanked me endlessly for the message that I gave to their sons and daughters. My favorite thing about high school students is that they still believe in possibilities; They still believe in the best of everyone.
My message to them was simple: “You’re important. You’re loved. You matter.” I met several people that night who I consider very good friends. Small town Nebraska, you’re my favorite. All my love.
